OPI - Glints of Glinda...Best nude ever!

Hello dear readers!

Today I want to show you swatches of a nude nail polish that I bought recently... and I'm in love with it!

Many times, I've thought, "this is the one!" when it comes to the perfect nude tone nail polish, but this time I hit the nail polish jackpot. Glints of Glinda by OPI, is not the usual nude tone, it has a jelly finish that makes it buildable to the opacity you choose... and by this, you can have the mannequin hands nail polish look, just  the way you want it

Glints of Glinda is part of OPI's Oz The Great And Powerful Collection. A peachy beige tone with a slight touch of yellow to it, which I think is a close match to my skin tone.

Being a jelly finish nail polish, it is very sheer. Good news is, this nail polish is not streaky and you can apply in layers to reach the desired opacity. This time, I wanted some nail line to show through, so I applied only two coats. Love it, love it, love it! The perfect balance of  no-nail-polish-look and yet, wearing nail polish. Very natural looking.

I'm very tempted to apply some nail art on it, but also, I like how it looks by itself. Very subtle looking.
I better buy 1 or 2 bottles as a back up, because I plan to keep wearing it :D

Have you tried this nail polish? or do you like the mannequin hands look?

Chocolate Swirl Water Marbling

Hello dear readers!

For my 2nd nail art of 2014, I chose water marbling. It is also the 2nd time I try water marbling.

I've always thought that there's a lot of wasted polish when trying it, but then I figured out... with all the nail polishes I have, when am I going to finish a bottle? I might as well put my nail polishes to good use and have fun with it...
For this mani I wanted a combination of powder pink and different shades of brown. Here's what I came up with:
  (More details and pics below)
Now that I see it, it reminds me a little bit of a cake with swirled chocolate icing...yummy!

For this manicure, I started with Orly - Prelude to a Kiss as the base.

Then I added a drops of :
Finger Paints - Sketchy Character
Milani - Bare with me
Kleancolor - Cappuccino
Nicole by OPI  - Hard-kourt Fashionista

Is a little bit hard to swirl the nail polish around.
I know there's a learning curve to it; maybe I need more practice.

I really like how the pattern came out on my thumb :D

Have your tried water marbling? Has it been easy for you?

Challenge: My Favorite Flower

Hello dear readers!

Here is my 1st manicure of 2014. I did it for Adventures in Stamping's Sunday challenge which is a nice way to come up with inspiration... it's also such a treat to take a look at what the other ladies do with their manicures. (Here some of the ladies post stamping in instagram #aistamping)

This is what I came up with for this challenge...
(more details and pics below)

Well, my favorite flowers are roses. Even if it sounds cliché, I really like them, here's some proof...
instagram.com/bunny_nails/

For this manicure, I started by painting 2 coats of Orly - Cotton Candy. Then, I stamped a grunge pattern from stamping plate HD-C using Orly - Prelude to a Kiss.

I stamped an inverted stamping pattern from my new BuNa-A plate on my thumb, index, middle and pinky. For my ring finger, I stamped a lace design and roses from the same plate. I used Kleancolor black for stamping.

This looks very Valentine's day appropriate, right? Maybe a bit early for that...

2 Types of New Year Nail Art for 2014

Hello dear readers!

Today I'm showing you 2 different types of new year nail art.
On the last 2 years, I usually do one nail art based on the Chinese New Yr and its zodiac. I did the yr of the dragon in 2012 and the yr of the snake in 2013. This time, I wanted to mix things a little bit by doing my usual Chinese zodiac-inspired nail art and and another one that represents new year generally.

More details below...

First, I'll show you the year of the horse nail art...

This is by far my favorite theme for new year. I like how you can incorporate the animal in the manicure; this gives endless possibilities for creativity

For this manicure I used Maybelline Colorshow in Sandstorm as the base. I topped it with a 24k gold flake topcoat by Ninja Polish. I painted the numbers and the horse head using Oumaxi acrylic paints. I added flower nail stickers for extra decoration.

For the thumb, I painted a red square and stamped the Chinese Fú character that means "Happiness" or "good fortune" using QA21 stamp plate.

Now, on my 2nd new year nail art I wanted to capture the overall mood of celebration seen worldwide like the fireworks and people getting together to welcome a new year.

For this nail art I used Revlon Top Speed in Black Star as the base. I stamped fireworks, people, 2014 numbers using designs from HD-E stamping plate.

That's it for my 2014 nail art...

♥♥Thank you to all of you who take their time to leave a comment on each of my posts. If you just prefer to come and read my posts, I thank you as well. You have made a very pleasant 2013 for me♥♥
Now, let's welcome 2014 with new hopes and inspiration!

I wish all of you a very happy new year. I hope 2014 is filled with happiness and prosperity  for all of us ;)

Happy New Year!
¡Feliz año nuevo!

Merry Christmas! Nice and Naughty Nail Art

Hello dear readers!

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas time with your loved ones.

It's still the 25th here... not too late to post about the manicure I wore yesterday.

I called this manicure "Nice and Naughty" because there are two different Xmas themes going on each hand.
On the left you can see snowflakes with hearts, that's the "nice" theme.
On the right side, you can see an ugly sweater pattern design, but in the middle of the 4 nails, you can see the reindeer getting a little naughty with each other...

See? At least, that was the idea

I used Christmas plates HD E & F for all the designs on this manicure. The red nail polish is China Glaze - red Satin. In the case of the naughty reindeer, I transferred the designs onto the stamper, covered with clear topcoat, let dry. After that, I applied top coat on my nails and placed the reindeer accordingly. I used the stamp decal technique.

I hope you liked this manicure.
