2 Types of New Year Nail Art for 2014

Hello dear readers!

Today I'm showing you 2 different types of new year nail art.
On the last 2 years, I usually do one nail art based on the Chinese New Yr and its zodiac. I did the yr of the dragon in 2012 and the yr of the snake in 2013. This time, I wanted to mix things a little bit by doing my usual Chinese zodiac-inspired nail art and and another one that represents new year generally.

More details below...

First, I'll show you the year of the horse nail art...

This is by far my favorite theme for new year. I like how you can incorporate the animal in the manicure; this gives endless possibilities for creativity

For this manicure I used Maybelline Colorshow in Sandstorm as the base. I topped it with a 24k gold flake topcoat by Ninja Polish. I painted the numbers and the horse head using Oumaxi acrylic paints. I added flower nail stickers for extra decoration.

For the thumb, I painted a red square and stamped the Chinese Fú character that means "Happiness" or "good fortune" using QA21 stamp plate.

Now, on my 2nd new year nail art I wanted to capture the overall mood of celebration seen worldwide like the fireworks and people getting together to welcome a new year.

For this nail art I used Revlon Top Speed in Black Star as the base. I stamped fireworks, people, 2014 numbers using designs from HD-E stamping plate.

That's it for my 2014 nail art...

♥♥Thank you to all of you who take their time to leave a comment on each of my posts. If you just prefer to come and read my posts, I thank you as well. You have made a very pleasant 2013 for me♥♥

I wish all of you a very happy new year. I hope 2014 is filled with happiness and prosperity  for all of us ;)

Happy New Year!

Challenge: Let my Boyfriend Choose a Design

Hello Dears!

Today's challege for FB, group Adventures in Stamping consists in letting your boyfriend or husband choose a design. I asked my boyfriend over the phone if he could help me with this challenge. More details below:

(Pictures can be enlarged)

His idea was to use a black nail polish as the base and a stamping design that had a bubble-like pattern in gold. To finish up the manicure, he said it would be a good idea to make some type of gradient on the tips in gold too.

I used Kleancolor in black for the base. Then, I stamped the bubble pattern from XL D plate using Maybelline Colorshow in Bold Gold. I used a makeup sponge and sponged the same gold nail polish on the tips of my nails to accomplish the gradient effect.

I loved his idea. I think I will let him suggest me more nail art ideas in a future ;)

Did you like his nail art idea and the result too?

♥♥Thank you for reading♥♥

Blog Sale Nail Polish Haul

Hello dears!

I have been into shopping for nail polish from blog sales recently because I have not had time to go out shopping.

What I like about blog sales is that I can find brand name nail polishes at very affordable prices. Some nail polishes are brand new, swatches or used for a manicure or two but I don't really care as long as the condition is described accordingly. I'm very happy with these purchases, the blogger I bought from were very nice and some including extra gifts.

Here is what I have bought from different sellers during these past weeks:

From left to right: Color Club- Tru Passion, Untamed Luxury and Worth the Risque. China Glaze - Custom Kicks, It's Poppin', Tinsel and Zombie Zest.

Zoya - Astra, Kristen, Gigi and Luna. Orly - Pixie Dust, Prince Charming, Mirror Mirror and Rage.

Icing - Golden Rule, Cosmetic Arts - unnamed bottle, Funky Fingers - unnamed bottle, SH Nail Prisms - Blush Diamond (x2), Ruby Diamond. OPI Nic's Sticks - Silverella (x2)

Milani - Enchantment, Garnet Gems, Fairy tale, OPI - You Don't Know Jacques, Wet n' Wild - Gray's Anatomy, Sally Hansen - Rockstar Pink, Maybelline - Pie in the Sky, Savvy - Prince Ala Charm.

I also bought a big bottle of Solar Oil to pamper my nails.

I hope you had a nice weekend!

Nabi Crackle Swatches

Hello dear readers! And welcome new readers!

First of all, if you are a previous reader of my blog, you may have noticed that my blog has a new image. I want to say thanks to Nailed it. for designing the banner of my blog. I never imagined it would be this cool!

Some of you may  remember a previous post about my Super Nail Polish Haul in which I got 12 Nabi crackle polishes. I absolutely love these crackles! That is the reason I swatched each color. More pictures below...

(Pictures can be enlarged)
I knew these nail color wheels would come in handy!

1. Nabi Crack "Rose" over Maybelline "Pink Sombrero"
2. Nabi Crack "Mocha" over China Glaze "Sunset Sail"
3. Nabi Crack "White" over Kleancolor "Black"

4. Nabi Crack "Pastel Blue" over Ulta "Smoke Screen"
5. Nabi Crack "New Lilac" over Essie "Nice is Nice"
6. Nabi Crack "Sky Blue" over Rimmel "Pink Punk"

7. Nabi Crack "Sand" over Kleancolor "Dark Brown"
8. Nabi Crack "Bright Purple" over Essie "French Affair"
9. Nabi Crack "Angel Lavender" over Prestige "White"

10. Nabi Crack "Black" over Kleancolor "Metallic Green"
11. Nabi Crack "Silver" over Kleancolor "Black"
12. Nabi Crack "Yellow" over Nabi "Neon Blue"

13. Nabi Crack "Yellow" over Prestige "White"

I decided to dedicate a post to these crackles because this really crack, I have used the Cherimoya crackle and those cracked but not as good as the Nabi ones. Overall, I'm satisfied with all these colors except silver because it did not cracked as good, and yellow because it is sheer over dark colors as you can see in nail 12 but it looks fine in nail 13 over a white base.

What do you think of my swatches?

Nail Polish Haul

Hello dear readers!

I wanted to go on a nail polish ban for some time, but I just can't resist a nail polish sale (or any other sale ^ ^') so, I took advantage of the Revlon nail polish sales that were going on at Ulta a couple weeks ago and at Walgreens last Saturday (Both had all Revlon 40% off). It was awesome that I was able to get some Revlon's most sought after colors. I also bought some from other brands such as Ulta, Sally Hansen, Maybelline and Jordana. I bought the Jordana nail polishes at my local flea market.

From left to right - Aloof, Girly, Downtown, Catty, Innocent and Carbonite.

Facets of Fuchsia, Starry Pink, Peach Smoothie, Cotton Candy, Gold Coin and Dawn.

Set the Nude, Scene Steel-er, Smoke Screen, White On, Pumpkin Spice, Natural Beauty, Dusty Rose, Quick Dry.

Which nail polishes have you bought recently?
